No guarantees, just hopes and dreams....

I read a lot of blogs about law school being a scam; but there are no guarantees. The purpose of college is to open doors. The doors allow for one to have a limited opportunity for success.

Outside the realm of scam bloggers, one can find other degrees which show that law school is not a scam. It's part of a larger problem. Colleges general misinform students about job prospects. Some examples of degrees/careers that misinform students, are Software-engineering, nursing, and teaching. I have friends who have degrees and certification in these fields and cannot find jobs.

Software engineering is very over-saturated. Current software-engineers are being laid off. The jobs are moving overseas and to rural america. People who have masters degrees cannot get interviews. The same jobs that they apply for which require a BS degree plus experience, only required an AA degree in the 1980s. Be very wary about becoming a soft-ware engineer.

Nursing and teaching. The lies told of job shortages in these fields are just as bad as the law school employment statistic scams. The shortages are based on future projections, that are in fact complete and utter bullshit. Supposedly in about 7-10 years there is going to be a shortage of employees in these fields. (Currently there are too many candidates looking for nursing and teaching jobs).

There are horror stories of nurses who cannot find jobs. And the same goes for teachers.

Returning to the law school scam bloggers, law school is not a scam. It is another example of how a college degree does not guarantee one a job. It simply opens the door to the possibility of one getting a job in their desired field. And on the otherside of that door is a long line of people. Some of those people have resources which allow them to cut in line; and they might not be the best person for the job.

It took Einstein three years to find a job as a lecturer. And an additional year to get hired as an adjunct. The college degree myth has been around a long time. College degrees are not guarantees...they are just hopes and dreams...
